County Projects
Wacky Olympics May 5, 2012
This project is a fundraiser for the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. High schools will enter Wacky Olympic Teams and Host individual events. Middle schools will enter teams. The entrance fee for high school teams is $100 per team and for middle schools it is $50 per team. A different high school is selected each year to act as a host. The games are versions of various party ice-breakers and silly games. A school may enter more than one team.
School Beautification Event Anytime
School student council selects a convenient day and organizes a school wide clean-up or similar event. The project could also involve painting, planting shrubs and trees, etc.
Food Drives Any Month
Members participate in one o these Field of Food or a similar drive Harvest Drive
Souper Bowl of Caring
Interscholastic Penny Wars December/January/February
A “penny wars” competition between schools to raise money for a charity. The charity recipient is voted on by the BCASC each year. Pennies count positive points, silver and paper count negative points.
Cure Finders Anytime
Each school can select a fundraising event from the kit provided by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. All proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to be used for promoting awareness, developing therapies and ultimately a cure.
Angel Tree December
School Student Governments or Student Councils will determine which classes wish to participate in the Salvation Army Angel Tree Project. Once that is determined the Student Government will acquire the appropriate number of “angels”. Classes will purchase the gifts for the angel and the student government will bring the gifts to the Salvation Army.
Holiday Cards for VA Hospitals Last day in November
School will produce giant holiday cards (22X28) and make them available to be signed by students and staff. These cards will be collected and sent to Florida’s VA hospitals
Destination Diploma Start in August
Both middle school and high schools can participate in this project however, most of the work this year will be undertaken by High schools. Briefly, the projects consists of a large banner with the names of students who are going to graduate displayed on the banner, PSA announcements by students encouraging students to get a diploma, and a video aimed at getting students involved in high schools.

The BCASC may vote to sponsor or endorse additional projects during the year.
