Student Eligibility
STUDENT ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERSCHOLASTIC AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Eligibility to participate in interscholastic and extra-curricular activities is considered a privilege. Students must meet the requirements of this policy to be eligible to participate in school athletics and activity programs. Authoricty: F.S. 236.425 Policy adopted: 9/2/97 RULES 1. To be eligible to participate in interscholastic extra-curricular athletics and student activities, a student shall be progressing satisfactorily toward graduation as provided for in the district's approved pupil progression plans. 2. A student entering the 9th grade during the 1997-98 school year and thereafter must have been regularly promoted from the eight grade and must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent in the courses required for high school graduation. The cumulative grade point average and courses for graduation include all attempted credits in high school. 3. To participate in student activities and athletics a student must maintain satisfactory conduct and if a student is convicted of, or is found to have committed, a felony or a delinquent act which would have been a felony if committed by an adult, regardless of whether adjudication is withheld, the students participation in interscholastic extra-curricular activities is contingent upon established and published School Board policy. 4. Since representing a school, either as an elected school official or in extra-curricular activities should be considered both an honor and a privilege only students meeting requirement established by their club, school, instructional services and/or the Board should be eligible to serve as a representative of their school.
