The following information is required in order to be considered as a host family during the NASC national conference. Information obtained will be treated as strictly confidential. Please be advised that references may be checked before acceptance or your application. You will be notified when you are confirmed.
- Provide two references of individuals living in the school district who know you and can attest to the good reputation of your family.
- Provide information on any religious, cultural, political, or athletic group affiliation.
- Indicate name of school, if you have students in one of the district's schools.
- Participate in at least one of the meetings held by the housing committee regarding hosting of students during the NASC national conference.
- Pick up the students assigned to your house by the date/time indicated by the housing committee.
- Provide a proper and safe environment for the host students.
- Provide supervision when the host students return home each evening from the conference activities. Notify the housing committee if a conflict arises.
- Provide food for the host students. Specifically, dinner the first evening and breakfast the following mornings.
- Provide one bed, or couch, or sleeping bag and pad per student.
- Provide access to a bathroom during the student's stay morning and evening.
- Discuss reasonable house rules with host students the first evening.
- Keep the student's medical forms in a safe and accessible place.
- Keep a list of emergency school phone numbers handy.
- Immediately notify the school of any medical emergency regarding the students.
- In case of extreme medical emergency, transport the students to the closest hospital with your copy of the medical form.
- Commit to follow the guidelines given by the host school housing committee. Sign the guidelines and return the form to the school.
