The annual Broward Student Leaders Conference will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Nova Southeastern University. On site registration will start at 8:30 a.m. and the first General Session will start at 9:15a.m. The conference will conclude at 2:00 p.m. and students must remain for the entire conference. The date of the Broward Student Leaders Conference is dictated by Nova Southeastern University’s Spring Break.Each high school is entitled to send 12 delegates to the Broward Student LeadersConference. Seniors are not eligible to attend as delegates. Junior student leaders andpotential leaders (i.e. club and class officers), who have passed the FCAT, are eligible to attend the Student Leaders Conference.  Students from McFatter Technical High School, Nova High School and Nova UniversitySchool may make their own transportation arrangements. Transportation for students from all other schools will be provided and students from these schools will not be allowed to travel on their own. You will receive a copy of the bus schedule as soon as the arrangements are finalized.Consideration should be given to your school’s student government advisor to act aschaperone for your students as there will be a series of workshops for the advisorsconducted in conjunction with the student workshops. If, due to FCAT testing, thestudent government advisor cannot attend, the senior or junior class sponsor may be sent.The Department of Student Activities and Athletics will assume the cost of a substitutefor this person to attend. Registration forms must be completed and returned to the Department of Student Activitiesand Athletics at Lockhart Stadium by Tuesday, February 23, 2010.The Broward County Association of Student Councils will provide donuts and juice in the morning and Nova Southeastern University will provide lunch. Because food must be ordered, it is imperative that the registration form be returned on or before the due date. The county dress code will be in effect, however, students should remember that they are representing their schools.Once again, Mike Smith will be the keynote speaker and Mr. Smith will conduct aworkshop for advisors following the morning’s opening session.Please remember, with the exceptions mentioned above, no students are to make their own transportation arrangements and all of the students are to remain for the entire session.
