The position of Student Advisor to the School Board and Alternate Advisor are herein proposed. The students who serve in these two capacities shall be nominated by their high schools, elected by the Broward County Association of Student Councils, and be seniors during the term of service.

The Student Advisor will attend all regularly scheduled meetings of the School Board. He/she will be provided pertinent materials relative to the meetings, and shall offer advice to the School Board on student-related issues. The Student Advisor shall attend all meetings of the Broward County Association of Student Councils and brief that body on the activities of the School Board.

The Alternate shall attend all meetings of the Broward County Association of Student Councils. This student should also receive materials relative to School Board meetings. This student should be prepared to assume the position of Student Advisor to the School Board in the event the position becomes vacant.

The Student Advisor shall have the option of receiving three credits for his/her work in this position—Executive Internship I & II, Leadership Skills Development and Social Studies Research.

Neither the Student Advisor to the School Board, nor the Alternate will receive materials of a confidential nature (such as personnel matters, expulsion cases, reassignment information, driver's license waiver requests, or other such information.
